Hi! I'm Sami

I have always had a passion for helping people and the innate ability to see the best in everyone. Watching so many people struggle with employment throughout a global pandemic highlighted the need for quality and accessible career services. My experience in employee relations, administration, and staff training naturally led me to resume writing. My ability to always see the best in my clients allows me to highlight their skills in a way that they otherwise wouldn’t be able to vocalize. I spent several years in a previous position writing job descriptions, managing online applications, weeding through candidates, and you guessed it – reading applicant resumes. I have seen firsthand what employers and hiring managers are looking for when it comes to resumes, cover letters, and online applications. I received a Master’s Degree from The University of Tennessee in Performance Psychology, and use that knowledge daily when it comes to writing resumes and making our clients shine.

When I’m not working, you’ll find me spending time at my home in Wisconsin with Andy and our three dogs, Nala, Oliver, and Hattie. I’m a huge bookworm and love diving into new books whenever I have the chance and tend to favor thrillers, mystery, and rom-com's. I also enjoy staying active, for both the physical and mental benefits, and you can regularly find me on the Peloton, taking a walk around the neighborhood, or attempting to throw around some heavy weights. 

Hi! I'm Andy

Mentoring and coaching people is always something that has come easy to me. From a young age, I always knew I wanted to be involved in helping people become the best versions of themselves – whether it was on a soccer field, a golf course, or now within a corporate boardroom. I enjoy getting to know people on a personal level and figuring out what makes them tick. I embrace the challenge of altering my teaching styles to fit individual clients’ learning styles and understand that cookie-cutter approaches typically don’t cut it (pun intended). Not one solution fits everyone, and I’ve brought that mindset into Shaw Career Consulting. My professional background revolved around managing teams, recruiting and interviewing employees to identify quality candidates that best fit our teams. I also have extensive experience in Account Management, Sales, and Customer Relations. Combining that with my Master’s in Performance Psychology from The University of Tennessee, I find that I can effectively highlight unique accomplishments and provide clients with the confidence they need to achieve their goals.

When I’m not working, you’ll find me tinkering around our home in Wisconsin with various home improvement projects. I appreciate the challenge of tackling something head-on and working through the obstacles that come up along the way. I’m an avid gym-goer and Peloton rider and enjoy pushing myself to become better each day.  My favorite way to unwind is to spend quality time with Sami and our three dogs, who keep us on our toes and make life exciting.
